With over 34,000 Palestinians dead out of which fifty percent are women and children and more than 77,000 wounded, and Gaza left in ruins, students across the United States are
protesting for justice for Palestinians. What more does Mr. Biden and the Democratic Party need to understand to shift their support of Israel? Politicians in the United States may turn a blind eye, but the entire world is witnessing the atrocities committed by the right-wing Zionist government of
Israel under the leadership of Netanyahu. Netanyahu stands accused of war crimes for his actions in Gaza and the West Bank, actions made possible with the support of the United States. If any other country had committed such acts,
the US and western world would likely denounce it as injustice and refer the matter to the International Criminal Court. However, due to Israel’s friendship with the US, criticism remains muted.
There was a time when mainstream media in the US, the Western world could have shielded Israeli oppression,
torture, and killing of Palestinians for over 75 years. However, with the rise of social media, the younger generations worldwide now recognize the double standards and hypocrisy at play. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) act with impunity, supported especially by the United States.
Who can claim Israel is at war? They possess one of the most sophisticated armies, with air, sea, and land superiority, fighting against unconventional freedom fighters for the past
seven months with no end in sight. Some argue that if Palestinians had similar weaponry, Israel would have surely been defeated by now. However, the point remains that there can be no military solution to fighting against an entire
population seeking independence. One day, Palestine will inevitably become a sovereign and independent country; there is no doubt about it. Israel’s current actions are only serving to create more supporters for Hamas. It’s doubtful that all Israelis share Netanyahu’s views. Before and after October 7, 2023,
Netanyahu and his right-wing allies bear sole responsibility for the ongoing conflict. They fostered Hamas to counter the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and prevent the internationally recognized two-state solution. Netanyahu
obstructs peace and should face prosecution for the failures of his administration. He is a self-serving individual, prioritizing his own agenda over humanity and maintaining power. It falls upon the peace-loving people of Israel, who do not align with Zionism and seek peaceful coexistence with Palestinians, to remove him from power through democratic means.
The double standard of the US is evident. While providing Israel with lethal ammunition such as fighter jets, drones, and missiles to destroy Gaza, the US is complicit in the collective punishment of Gazans by supporting Israel’s blockade on essential supplies.
Where is the US’s championing of humanitarian causes and calls for justice against the IDF’s atrocities? Instead, the US allocates billions in tax dollars to the genocidal regime of Netanyahu.
The recent attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, allegedly carried out by Israel, violates international law and resulted in the deaths of numerous high-profile Iranian military personnel. Yet, there has been silence from the US and the Western world. Only when Iran retaliated did the US and its allies rush to condemn and discuss sanctions. This disparity highlights another instance of double standards.
Britain, often seen as a collaborator in US actions, swiftly joined forces to destroy drones and missiles, spending approximately $2 billion in a matter of hours. This costly partnership with Israel comes at the expense of taxpayer dollars.
Mr. Biden may only understand the consequences of his close alignment with AIPAC and the Israeli lobby when it costs him the election. He must lose this election to comprehend which side
of history he stands on. At this critical juncture, he had the opportunity to take a principled stand, yet he chose to support Netanyahu’s genocidal Zionist regime, which will inevitably face repercussions.
